Tatarstan became second in the ranking of innovative activity of regions

The National Association of innovation and development of information technology (NAIRIT) summed up the rankings of innovative activity of regions for 2011, according to Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The study involved 83 Russian regions. Moscow became the leader of the ranking. Second place was taken by the Republic of Tatarstan (previous year it was 4th in the ranking). The region has Russia's largest special economic zone, four industrial parks, technopolis, 14 techno parks, etc. It should be noted that for the first time ever, compared with previous studies, the gap between the capital and its closest pursuers rated was reduced and was 15%.

The aim of the study is to identify regions showing the best performance in promoting the development of science and innovation sphere, as well as getting an objective picture of the current state of innovation in Russia.

The idea and methodology developed NAIRIT rating based on the methodology of the leading world analogues (primarily European rankings «European Innovation Scoreboard»).
